Driving In

If you find yourself often spinning around in circles, fear not! West Point, VA is easily found from any direction. Located 35 minutes east of Richmond’s East End, 60 minutes west of Norfolk, or 1 hour and 45 minutes from the Northern VA beltway at the mixing bowl. There are major highways from all directions.

FROM RICHMOND: Take 64 east to exit 220 (Rt. 33 east). Go 7 miles to the town of West Point.  Once you have crossed the second bridge go 1.3 miles and turn right onto Airport Rd.  Follow Airport Road approximately 1 mile and take the gravel road on the left just before Airport Road ends at the main terminal building.  We are at the end of the gravel road, approximately 400 yards off of Airport Road.

FROM VA BEACH/NORFOLK: Take 64 west to exit 227 (Rt. 30). At the top of the exit ramp turn right onto Rt. 30. At the first traffic light turn right (east) and go 5 miles to the town of West Point. Once you have crossed the second bridge go 1.3 miles and turn right onto Airport Rd.  Follow Airport Road approximately 1 mile and take the gravel road on the left just before Airport Road ends at the main terminal building.  We are at the end of the gravel road, approximately 400 yards off of Airport Road.

FROM NORTHERN VA: Take 95 South to exit 98 (West Point-Kings Dominion). Go east on Rt. 30 (~46 miles) to the town of West Point. Turn left on Rt.33 (east) into the town of West Point.  Once you have crossed the bridge go 1.3 miles and turn right onto Airport Rd.  Follow Airport Road approximately 1 mile and take the gravel road on the left just before Airport Road ends at the main terminal building.  We are at the end of the gravel road, approximately 400 yards off of Airport Road.

FROM POINTS SOUTH OF VIRGINIA: Take 95 north to 64 east to exit 220 (Rt. 33 east). Go 7 miles to the town of West Point. Once you have crossed the second bridge go 1.3 miles and turn right onto Airport Rd.  Follow Airport Road approximately 1 mile and take the gravel road on the left just before Airport Road ends at the main terminal building.  We are at the end of the gravel road, approximately 400 yards off of Airport Road.

THE RESIDENTIAL SECTION OF AIRPORT ROAD IS 25MPH…..THIS IS STRICTLY ENFORCED!!

Virginia Parachute Council Competition

9/17 (Sat) The Virginia Parachute Council (VPC) is the longest continually-running skydiving competition league in the country. VPC has historically provided the primary foundation for competitive 4-way formation skydiving in Virginia, and now VPC offers a Vertical Relative Work (VRW) category for freeflyers.   Skydive the Point is proud to host VPC this year April 9, June 11 and September 17.  VPC will also be hosted by Skydive Orange on May 21.

STP 1960's Skydive the Point, established in 1962, is one of the oldest skydiving clubs in the United States.  Because we are a club, our objective is to be safe, have fun and continuously improve the DZ.  So whether you’re into RW, freeflying, wingsuits, canopy piloting or any other discipline, if you’re looking for a DZ that jumps hard, knows how to have fun and loves having new folks join in, this is the place for you!

Skydive the Point has moved to a new home at the “Virginia Skydiving Center”…the most scenic dropzone in Virginia!!!  Please come visit us in our new digs at Dinwiddie County Airport, just 30 minutes south of downtown Richmond.  Our big new hangar, large, comfortable Grand Caravan, and large grassy landing area is sure to please.  Check us out on Facebook and at http://www.virginiaskydivingcenter.com.
