8 way snowflake followed by an 8 way round. 4 on the outside, 1 in the door, 3
swoopers. 14,000 feet and 7:59:50 EST we were out the door. Considering the experience
level of the group, of course the base wobbled. Of course the swoopers went low. The base
punched out. The swoopers floated up to their slots. It's not surprising that it took
7,000 feet for the last person to potato chip into their slot. It's not surprising that it
took another 2,800 feet to get everyone into the BFR. The surprising part was everything I
missed. I didn't take into account that the average number of jumps was 158. I didn't take
into account that no one in the formation had an Eagle award. I didn't consider that we
were pushing this out of a Twin Bo. I didn't think about any of that until after the jump.
The teamwork was amazing. The determination was admirable. The biggest surprise was that
we pulled it off. Break off at 4200 and everyone landed without incident. It's onlyfitting
that we achieve this on a dive dedicated to Sandy.
Thanks to all who participated. Including Sandy for pulling the BFR together when
someone lost their grip. There's no way in the world we did that on our own.
