Skydive Virginia Memorial

Skydive Virginia-Louisa, VA

I have a lot of memories that were made with Sandy. The time several of us flew from Louisa in the Skydive Virginia based Casa to Pepperell, Massachusetts to help break the New England record was a classic. The return trip involved buzzing Paul Fayard's Casa in Montgomery, NY followed by two Casas in formation, at a thousand feet, traveling down the Hudson River with New York City in the back drop. If that wasn't enough excitement, the circle around the Statue of Liberty at approx 500 feet in the SV Casa was the clincher.

On August 1st, I wanted to fly our King Air to West Point to the DZ Sandy knew so well. But, as the day was rapidly coming to a close we realized it wasn't meant to be. So, we built a 7-way "Y" for Sandy over an airport that Sandy & I had shared many a skydive. The King Air was flown by Thomas Arkwright (Tom completed his AFF Level V with Sandy at Louisa) and the participants in the dive were Mike Levesque, Mike Graham, March Oliver, Alan Preble, Pete Yadlowsky, Marc Garber and myself.

I was on the last 3 Roger Nelson sponsored World Record dives with Sandy. On the last Lake Wales dives and the beginning dives in Ottawa Sandy & I shared what I call brother/sister slots; we were both line weed whacker starters in the same quandrant.

Sandy, we'll all miss you, but I know your soul lives on.

Godspeed......
